Couples Therapy on the Central Coast

Our couples therapy sessions give partners a space to work through communication difficulties, conflict or changes in their relationship. We work with each couple's own situation rather than a one-size-fits-all process.

Working Through Relationship Challenges Together

Every relationship goes through periods of difficulty, whether that's communication breakdowns, conflict or simply growing apart over time. DMH Support Services offers couples therapy on the Central Coast for partners who want a structured space to work through these challenges together.

Sessions draw on training in neuro-linguistic programming to look at communication patterns and how each partner responds under pressure, rather than focusing on assigning blame for the current situation. Couples come to therapy at all different stages, whether that's early in a relationship or after many years together.

For couples working through concerns specifically connected to intimacy, our sex therapy sessions cover this in more depth. Call 0424 110 824 to arrange a session.

Sessions are shaped around what each couple brings to the room, rather than following a set script from week to week. This can include:

Getting started

How Couples Therapy Sessions Are Structured

Couples therapy typically begins with an initial session where both partners attend together to talk through what's brought them to therapy. From there, sessions may continue jointly, or a mix of joint and individual sessions may be arranged, depending on what's being worked through.

Each session runs for approximately fifty minutes. How many sessions are needed, and how often they're held, is discussed and agreed as things progress.

Both partners are encouraged to share their own perspective during sessions, rather than one partner speaking for the other. Bringing along context about the relationship's history can help shape the early sessions, though nothing needs to be prepared in advance.
