Support for Intimacy and Sexual Wellbeing
Difficulties with intimacy, communication or sexual wellbeing can affect a relationship or an individual's sense of confidence, and finding somewhere to talk about it openly isn't always straightforward. DMH Support Services offers sex therapy on the Central Coast for individuals and couples working through these kinds of concerns.
Sessions draw on training in neuro-linguistic programming to work through thought patterns and communication styles that may be contributing to the difficulty. Some people come to sex therapy on their own, while others attend as a couple, depending on what they'd like to focus on.
For couples wanting to work on the relationship more broadly, our couples therapy sessions cover similar ground from a different angle. Call 0424 110 824 to arrange a session.

What Our Sex Therapy Sessions Cover
Every sex therapy session is shaped around what the individual or couple brings to it, rather than a fixed program applied the same way each time. Sessions may include:
Working through communication difficulties around intimacy. This can involve identifying unhelpful patterns and finding new ways to talk about sensitive topics.
Addressing changes in desire or connection within a relationship. Sessions explore what's changed and what each person needs going forward.
Processing past experiences that affect present-day intimacy. This is approached at a pace set by the individual or couple.
Building confidence in communicating needs and boundaries. Practical strategies are discussed for use outside of sessions.
Getting in touch is the first step, usually by phone or through the contact form on this site. From there, an initial session is arranged to talk through what's brought you to sex therapy and what you'd like to focus on. There's no need to have everything figured out beforehand.
Sessions may be held one-on-one or with both partners present, depending on the situation. Each session runs for approximately fifty minutes. Any ongoing sessions, and how often they're held, are arranged together as things progress.
Bringing along any relevant background, such as previous counselling history, can help shape how the first session is approached, though it isn't required.

Is sex therapy only for couples?
No, sex therapy can be undertaken by individuals as well as couples. The focus depends on what the person or couple wants to work through.
How is sex therapy different from general counselling?
